Brief description
For The Struggle seeks an experienced policy analyst to join The Eatmon Project, which focuses on voter education and engagement. This is part-time position that will end after 2021 local elections. The Local Government Policy Analyst will carefully research the votes and actions of Charlotte City Council members and Mecklenburg County Board of County Commissioners. Job Responsibilities:
• Research all City Council and Board of County Commissioners Meetings for the current term.
• Identify policies that went/are before each body that involve issues of racial and social justice and record each elected official’s vote in a comprehensive and meaningful manner that will allow for use during 2021 local elections
• Contact elected officials who demonstrate a commitment to racial and social justice to identify additional policy issues related to racial and social justice.
• Carefully Collect research and track and enter data collected into FTS’s electronic database. Ensure data entry and quality control is executed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Communicates with other team members regarding the status of data entered into database in a timely manner;
• Sends in weekly timesheets on the last day of each month;
• Respects applicant dignity and confidentiality; and
• Performs any other tasks necessary to advance the collection of information and achieve the goals and mission of the Eatmon Project.
Qualifications:
Strong research skills and detail-oriented. Strong communication and organizational skills, self-motivated and great work ethic, and a demonstrated commitment to fighting for racial and social justice are also necessary. Candidates must be able to work within a team, have proven leadership ability and an orientation towards handling a lot of responsibility. Strong self-direction and the ability to take initiative are also necessary qualifications. Previous analyst or research experience is required.

For The Struggle seeks an experienced part-time Cavass Team Coordinator for a 9 month project involving canvassing every home located on the Beatties Ford Road Corridor located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Canvass Team Coordinator will work on FTS’s Elder Response Initiative, which involves identifying seniors in need. The Canvass Team Coordinator will organize canvassing events, train volunteer canvassers, collect data from volunteer canvassers and enter data in FTS’s electronic database. Job Responsibilities:
• Recruitment: Build a volunteer team of canvassers to collect information regarding residents on the Beatties Ford Corridor for purposes of identifying seniors in need.
• Volunteer Management: Train volunteer canvassers and work with volunteers in both individual and group settings. Create a welcoming and motivating atmosphere.
• Plan, organize and execute canvassing events on the Beatties Ford Road Corridor. This includes preparing training materials, volunteer waiver forms, and ordering food and gift cards for volunteers.
• Carefully Collect data from volunteer canvassers and track and enter data collected into FTS’s electronic database. Ensure data entry and quality control is executed in an accurate and timely manner.
• Communicates with other team members regarding the status of data entered into database in a timely manner;
